Description |
Yes, it's a 4 door, but not your average 4 door.
Very nice driver quality paint and interior. Just the basics, nothing fancy here. Excellent body with no rust repairs anywhere. Good chrome and moldings with only some minor pitting on some of the die cast parts. There are some marks and bubbles in the original glass, but nothing that's really distracting from the overall appearance. There are some repairs to the shock mount area in the trunk (it had been running air shocks during it's street racing days) It now runs coil over shocks with one of the aftermarket shock cross member kits installed. The interior was redone some time in the past in plain black vinyl, and it's still very nice. The original steering wheel was replaced with a Vega GT wheel at some point. The smaller wheel looks cool, but it makes the steering a little heavy when parking. All the dash gauges and lights are operational. The heater, and even the original AM radio work. The Autometer gauges were added to augment the factory temp. gauge and oil light. Originally converted to a Big Block in the mid 70's, driven and street raced on the Peninsula. The engine is a '73 454 with approximately 40 K miles and is equipped with headers, a very mild cam, an Edelbrock Torker intake and Holley spread bore carb. It still runs the original generator and point distributor, but the motor mounts have been updated with a set of modern side mounts, and the glass packs have given way to new 2 1/2 pipes and Flowmasters. The original radiator, with the addition of a large transmission cooler have been keeping the temperature at about 200 under normal conditions. The Turbo 400 transmission has a mild shift kit and is still using the original column linkage. The balance of the drive train is basically stock '57, including the rear end (4.11 Positraction). The old slot mags have been swapped out for a set of Chevrolet Rallys (15 X 7 in the front, 15 X 8 in the rear). The Cooper Cobra tires are in nearly new condition. If there is a weakness, I would say it's the brakes. It's still running the original manual drum brakes. Although they're in excellent shape, it could use more stopping power. All anyone cared about back then was how to go faster, not much thought was given to how to slow down again. |
